Mold Testing

Wingfield Environmental has been helping homeowners, businesses, schools, and insurers make confident decisions about indoor mold for decades. Our team plans the right sampling, documents conditions, and delivers lab-backed reports you can use.

When testing makes sense

If you’ve had a leak, are experiencing moisture intrusion, have experienced flooding, notice musty odors, have discoloration or microbial growth on building components, or you’re dealing with unresolved health issues or complaints in a space, you may have a mold issue which could include health threatening toxin producing species of mold.

What we do

Every home or commercial space is different. After a brief consult, we will recommend a simple sampling & analysis plan that may include indoor air sampling and/or a small number of targeted surface samples. Following sample collection, all samples are shipped overnight to an accredited laboratory for analysis. Once the data have been reported, we provide the results to our clients via email with a simple summary of findings or in a traditional report (clients preference). Following the email of findings to our clients, we like to have one on one phone conversations with them making sure they have a FULL UNDERSTANDING of the findings and potential implications.

How the process works

We discuss your concerns and questions.

We collect the samples.

We deliver the lab report along with our findings and recommendations

What You Receive

Your report will include the laboratory data showing total concentration of all spores present, concentration of individual types of spores present, and if any toxin producing spores (e.g., Stachybotrys ‘Black Mold’) are present. Our summary, also provided with the data, will explain in simple to understand verbiage, what the sampling showed, if mold concentrations are considered “typical/normal” or “non-typical/elevated”, and if there are any toxin species present. Our summary/report will close with practical next steps.
Reasons for sampling could include “out of curiosity” or “clearance testing” following mold mitigation events. Remediation companies as well as insurers, routinely conduct “clearance testing” to assure the insured (home or business owners) that the indoor environment is safe from mold following mitigation events. This type of “clearance testing” provides two (2) main types of assurance: 1) that the home/business is safe for occupants to return after the mitigation event, and 2) provides liability protection for mitigation contractors and insurers showing that the mitigated areas were safe when they completed their work which protects against potential litigation.
